Batman is taking on Elmer Fudd

Finally, Batman will cross paths with the ultimate evil — Elmer Fudd — as part of a series of Looney Tunes and DC Comics crossovers.

The DC Comics and Looney Tunes crossovers of my dreams are coming.

A tersely worded DC Comics press release broke the best news of the year today.

A series of Looney Tunes and DC Comics crossovers are coming, including…

Jonah Hex and Yosemite Sam.

Martian Manhunter and Marvin the Martian.

Lobo and the Road Runner.

And, of course, Batman and Elmer Fudd.

Personally, Lobo and The Road Runner is the crossover I’m most looking forward to — hiring The Main Man to take out the Road Runner just seems like something Wile E. Coyote would do, and it has the potential to be DC’s answer to Archie Meets the Punisher. And it looks like it’s going to be drawn by Kelley Jones! Kelley Jones, guys!

But I sure am keen to see how Batman will interact with Elmer Fudd. Fudd’s weapon of choice will surely upset Batman, and Fudd will have fun trying to pronounce names like ‘Robin’ and ‘The Riddler’.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Looney Tunes and DC Comics characters have crossed over (they are both WB properties, after all). Does anyone besides me remember Superman & Bugs Bunny, the four-issue miniseries by Mark Evanier and Joe Staton?

And there was a whole month’s worth of DC/Looney Tunes variant covers in November 2015.

These might seem like random crossovers, but as someone who spent an inordinate amount of time at Movie World as a kid — a theme park on the Gold Coast devoted to Looney Tunes and DC Comics — it feels pretty natural.

No release dates (or any real details, for that matter) have been given yet about the new series, but it’s safe to say I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled.

Th-Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th… That’s definitely not all, folks.
